Wharton wins run-off for House District 12, preparing for General election
HUNTSVILLE, Texas (KBTX) – Trey Wharton will appear on ballots in November as the lone Republican candidate for House Representative District 12.
Wharton won the Primay run-off race Tuesday where he was challenged by Ben Bius.
Final results from voters gave Wharton the win with 72% from the district that includes Grimes, Madison, Walker Washington and parts of Brazos Counties. Wharton said he’s excited about the results and ready to continue messaging to voters.
“I did this for us, I did this so we would be represented because I’ve operated my entire life to make sure that I learned more about people and then that way they had a voice, or else how are you going to be represented if you don’t have somebody that knows you. I want to know them and I want them to know me,” Wharton said.
He will appear on ballots again in November as the only republican candidate for District 12. He will be up against Democrat Dee Howard Mullins and Libertarian Robert Profili. Wharton spent election day speaking with voters at the polls in Walker County.
