Unbound Now in search of volunteers for outreach event
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Unbound Now is searching for volunteers for a community outreach event taking place Jan. 27.
The event, called Not In My City, helps to spread the organization’s message and mission – helping survivors of human trafficking and providing community education on human trafficking.
After a brief training, volunteers will go to local businesses, offering them educational materials on human trafficking. Their primary focus is hair salons and barber shops.
These places, according to Outreach Coordinator Christine Labertew, have a high chance in coming across victims of trafficking.
“Those people have a better chance of kind of noticing when maybe something’s wrong, or maybe getting to hear some things that that person might not be comfortable telling other people,” Labertew said.
