Treat of the Day: St. Joseph Catholic School receives 3rd District of Distinction Award for commitment to art
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – For the third year in a row, St. Joseph Catholic School in Bryan was named one of 94 winners of the 2024 District of Distinction Award by the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA). The school said it was bestowed this award for providing a well-rounded education with an emphasis on the arts to its students.
St. Joseph Catholic School said on Tuesday, with 1,200 contenders, only 94 school districts met the TAEA’s 14-point rubric which outlines visual arts in education.
“By completing all of the requirements for this award year after year, we are building a strong program and encouraging our students to think about art beyond the classroom,” the release quoted Lisa Urban, co-leader of St. Joseph’s art department and 2022 recipient of Outstanding Educator Award. “I absolutely love that our school has been a leader in helping other private schools across the state apply for and get the recognition they deserve through this award program.”
This is TAEA’s fifth year granting the District of Distinction Award and St. Joseph’s third win. The school will appear on TAEA’s website and receive a plaque and letter of recommendation from the association.
