Three arrested following months-long drug investigation

GRIMES COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – The Texas Department of Public Safety and Grimes County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people following a months-long investigation.

Rusell Reed, Helen McClanahand and Kevin Biddle are all facing multiple drug charges.

“After almost a two-month joint investigation, Special Agents with the Texas Department of Public Safety and Grimes County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigator were able to pinpoint where a substantial amount of methamphetamine was being sold and distributed,” a release from the Grimes County Sheriff Office said.

The first arrest happened on Feb. 22, when Grimes County deputies conducted a traffic stop on FM 244 near Trinity Avenue. The driver was identified as Russel Reed. He was arrested for Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Officers found 45 grams of methamphetamine and Ziploc baggies inside the vehicle, according to the release.

Investigators were able to link the drugs to the place where Biddle and McClanahand live.

On Monday, Feb. 26, Troopers and Special Agents conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle, driven by Biddle, for expired registration. Biddle failed to stop and during a pursuit officers said Biddle “threw a substantial amount of methamphetamine already packaged for distribution.”

Authorities were able to catch up to Biddle and arrest him and after a search of the vehicle found a substance that tested positive for both cocaine and fentanyl.

Police then executed a search warrant on Biddle’s home where more methamphetamine was recovered and McClanahand was taken into custody.

Biddle is facing multiple charges including Evading, Tampering With Physical Evidence, and Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

McClanahand was charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
