‘This is our first house that we purchased together,’ Leon County couple loses home in fire
LEON COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – A Leon County couple is looking to rebuild their lives after losing their home in a fire early Monday morning.
Brittany and Jack Pinskiy woke up to flames engulfing their home around 2:45 a.m., and banging on their door.
Jack suffered minor injuries, but the couple is otherwise safe. Still, they suffered a great loss.
“Because, I mean, we’re a family of seven, seven animals,” she said.
Their beloved pets were laid to rest in their front yard, but Brittany said she’s thankful their oldest dog made it.
“She’s okay, she’s looking for everybody because we had her daughter, her grandbabies,” she added.
Firefighters determined it was an electrical fire, which reignited multiple times over the following days. Firefighters ultimately returned to their home three times after the initial call.
Despite what happened, the couple said that having each other makes the road ahead easier to navigate.
”We worked for it. This is our first house that we purchased together as a married couple, and now, it’s this,” Brittany said.
Now, their neighbors have stepped up to support them.
