Texas A&M University to vote on officially hiring Trev Alberts as athletic director
TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY, Texas (KBTX) – The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents called a special meeting for Mar. 27, where they will vote to officially hire Trev Alberts as the new athletic director.
This vote will clear University President Mark Welsh to begin negotiating the terms of Alberts’s contract with Texas A&M.
It’s been reported that the university will spend over $4 million to buy Alberts out of his contract with Nebraska, which he signed an eight-year extension on last November.
His extended contract would have kept him at Nebraska until 2031, and would have nearly doubled his salary over the years.
Regents have not released how the possible terms of his new contract will compare.
The meeting will be livestreamed and available for the public to listen to. The link can be found here.
