Suspect in custody after high speed pursuit ends in Milam County
LEE COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – A multi-county pursuit starting in Lee County late Sunday evening ended with one person in custody.
A Lee County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Highway 77, south of Lexington.
Authorities say a high-speed chase began with the suspect going faster than 100 miles per hour.
The pursuit continued north into Milam County where local law enforcement got involved, including the Milam County Sheriff’s Office and Rockdale Police Department. Deputies began to set up spike strips on the highway.
As the suspect drove through Minerva, their vehicle went off the road near River Ridge Road and crashed.
The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was airlifted to the hospital.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, they’ve filed charges for evading arrest and driving while intoxicated. The sheriff’s office will not be releasing the suspect’s identity until they are officially charged.
