Suspect arrested after authorities respond to Thursday night shooting that left two injured in Milam County

MILAM COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) – The Cameron Police Department and Milam County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of shots fired on August 15, around 7:30 p.m., at the Cameron Associate Apartments in the 1700 block of West 4th St.

Authorities said once they were on the scene, they found two victims with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital.

MCSO located a male suspect inside a nearby apartment and officers were able to speak to him on the phone. The suspect was arrested and is currently in Milam County Jail on two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Sheriff Mike Clore says Rockdale Police, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper and a Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden were on scene to help with crowd control.

Sheriff Clore says the investigation is ongoing and there is no danger to the public.
