Summer Hunger : Mobile food pantries support hungry neighbors in rural areas

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – As the summer begins and inflation continues to rise so does the need for more donations at the Brazos Valley Food Bank.

Since 2008 the program has been helping those in need around the Brazos Valley by getting food to them without the need for a physical location.

“It’s indented access to food in areas where our neighbors might not have enough food resources,” said Brazos Valley Food Bank program director Shannon Avila.

The food bank serves 45 mobile food pantries across 6 counties and now needs more donations than ever before.

“We are seeing lower food donations, lower food supplies coming in than previous years and those donations help us meet the need,” added Avila.

Food donations and monetary donations help the food bank and all of the neighbors it serves.
