Storm damage in Huntsville leaves many without power

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (KBTX) – Severe weather in Huntsville has left much of the city without power, and with extensive damage.

A confirmed wind gust of 70 miles per hour, heavy rains and hail caused power outages across the area, even impacting the stoplights on certain roads.

Huntsville resident Adrian OBryant said the severe weather Tuesday, and over the past few weeks, has flooded his apartment and caused damage to his car.

That damage, he said, has prevented him from doing laundry, and paying for a laundromat is getting expensive. It’s put him in a challenging position.

“The complex I stay at is leaking, it’s flooded. Man, it’s bad out here, water pooled and messed up my car. Hope I get some help, you know,” he said.

A precarious situation could be seen on 11th Street as a broken tree brand hung from a low-hanging power line. It’s unclear exactly when power will be restored.

Another resident who was left without power said they were shocked by the severity of the damage.

“I was like, ‘what?’ I was like, I didn’t know it was like that,” Alejandra Montiel said, “I couldn’t straighten my hair. So it already aggravated me.”

The severe weather is expected to take a pause through the end of the day Tuesday.
