Stolen car from College Station linked to ‘meat stealing spree’ in Houston area

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – A vehicle stolen from College Station has been linked to a stolen meat investigation in the Houston area and the arrests of two men.

Police in the southwest Houston suburb of Rosenberg found the stolen vehicle on Tuesday, January 23.

During the traffic stop, Rosenberg police say they found a total of 18 packages of meat including beef steaks, brisket, and pork chitterlings valued over $500 inside the car. During the investigation, it was determined the meat products were stolen out of Katy and Houston area grocery stores. In addition to the stolen meat, officers found drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

The driver of the stolen vehicle was identified as 32-year-old Cornileus Davis from Pattison, Texas. Davis was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and additional theft charges are pending. The passenger was identified as 31-year-old Robert Stevenson from Brookshire, Texas. Stevenson was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and additional theft charges are pending.

“I applaud our officers for their vigilance in stopping this criminal episode. Without the intervention of the officers, more crimes would have likely occurred against citizens and businesses in our area,” said Rosenberg Police Chief Jonathan White.

“We encourage everyone to heed our advice to #locktakehide by removing their car keys and locking their doors. It is common for criminals to use stolen vehicles to commit other crimes,” said College Station Police in a social media post on Monday.
