St. Joseph Catholic Church changes Easter mass locations due to fallen beam

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – St. Joseph Catholic Church will now host their future services in other locations after a wooden beam fell off their ceiling.

With Easter Sunday just days away, services will still continue as scheduled.

The main church building will reopen after structural engineers deem it safe, but for now services will be held at Christ the Good Shepherd Chapel in Bryan.

Father Brian Eilers said they want to keep their parishioners safe until they know for sure that the space is safe to be in.

Although repairs will take time, the change in location came with an unexpected benefit.

“It’s great because this seats about 2,000 people, so we have plenty of room for everyone,” he said. “Usually we can get about 800 people at our main church.”

Nobody was in the church building at the time of the beam falling.
