Shooting death under investigation in Robertson County
CALVERT, Texas (KBTX) – The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting death that occurred this week near the city of Calvert.
The incident happened just after midnight Tuesday at a home along FM 979 near Elmo Road.
Robertson County Chief Deputy Bill Ruland confirms Karson Meunier, a Calvert resident, was on private property when he was shot and killed. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation, but the woman who shot him was not arrested.
Chief Deputy Ruland says that once completed, the case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for review and then presented to a grand jury for review to determine if charges are warranted.
Close friends of Meunier tell KBTX he’s a native of the Houston area and moved to Calvert several years ago to help restore old homes and enjoyed studying the history of the area.
Meunier’s family has been notified of his death, said Ruland.
The Texas Rangers are also assisting with the investigation.
