Several large trees downed during probable small tornado in Washington County
BRENHAM, Texas (KBTX) – Severe weather swept through Washington County Wednesday night, causing intensive damage to a small subdivision in Brenham.
Chainsaws were buzzing throughout the 12 home neighborhood as residents worked to clear the damage.
One resident, Robert Combs, was out at dinner with his wife when the storm hit. They were driving home when they came across their neighbor’s tree blocking the dirt road.
Another tree on Combs’s property was ripped up at the roots, sending branches into the roof of his cabana and damaging his fence.
The cleanup process hasn’t slowed down.
”Getting a bunch of tree limbs and all the chairs out of the swimming pool, and I had to do a lot of chain sawing to get the tree off the fence and off the cabana,” he said.
The next morning, the neighborhood jumped into what Combs called ‘cleanup mode.’ He said it’s been nonstop, but neighbors are there to lend a hand when needed.
“Two of my neighbors were clearing the tree that was blocking the road. Everyone is kind of like a community, a family here. Everyone’s very very helpful,” he added.
Combs said no one in their neighborhood was injured, and no homes in the neighborhood were damaged during the storm.
