See artists at work at Paint Out Bryan
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The community will have the chance the pack their weekend with art and culture.
Destination Bryan is hosting its Street & Art Fair Saturday, but festivities kick off Friday with Paint Out Bryan.
It’ll be hosted by the Visual Arts Society and will bring nearly 30 artists together to share their love of plein-air painting.
“It’s a big hobby,” Mindy Austin said. “It’s a big career change for some people these days.”
Austin is the Visual Art Society’s publicity chair and Paint Out Bryan organizer. She said the artists will paint scenes of downtown while interacting with the community.
The event also serves as a confidence booster for the newer artists, according to Austin.
“You get confidence from showing people and talking to people who come out to the fair,” Austin said.
Artist and Visual Arts Society member Amanda Arnold can attest to this.
She’s been a part of the event since the start in 2023 and said it’s been fun expressing her creativity in this way.
“I’ve been painting inside from photographs mostly, but it gives me a little bit more depth and the lighting, you can see better shadows and everything,” Arnold said.
Paint Out Bryan starts at 9 a.m. Friday on Bryan Avenue.
