RV Parks have noticed an increase in bookings as the solar eclipse attracts travelers

ROBERTSON COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – The total solar eclipse will reach Texas in less than two weeks and many people are traveling to Texas just to watch this miracle in the sky.

KBTX spoke with RV parks who have noticed an increase in bookings as the solar eclipse attracts travelers.

The owner of Lost Oaks RV Park in Robertson County, Arthur Hopkins, says in the past six months he’s received hundreds of calls from potential eclipse travelers.

“I could’ve filled my RV Park probably two or three times over,” said Hopkins.

Hopkins says interest started over a year ago.

“February or March of 2023 was the first time that somebody booked one of my RV’s that was for vacation rental. I couldn’t understand why they booked a year in advance and that was the first time I understood ‘Oh there’s an eclipse next year,’” said Hopkins.

They’re not the only RV Park filled that weekend. The owner of Bryan/North College Station KOA Holiday, Sairoj Maknojia, says in the last few weeks they’ve fielded calls from people trying to book the weekend before the eclipse hits.

Preparing for a full RV Park on April 8th, Maknojia says they’re hosting a watch party for their guests when the eclipse hits.

Lost Oaks RV Park is excited for the phenomenon to hit the sky.

“I think it’s going to be a wonderful event. What a great opportunity especially for us Texans that we just happen to fall into the path of the best viewing place for the solar eclipse,” said Hopkins.

Lost Oaks RV Park is already all booked up. Meanwhile, KOA holiday is expecting to be completely booked for the eclipse weekend.
