Rob Santarsiero surprised with Chris Kirk Legacy Award

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Rob Santarsiero showed up to the Brazos County Commissioner’s Meeting Tuesday to present the second annual Chris Kirk Legacy Award.

He did not expect to hear his name as this year’s recipient.

“Surprised a little. Shocked,” Santarsiero said after he was asked how he was feeling. “But I’m honored.”

The award is named after former Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk and honors his legacy of service. Santiarsiero is currently the project coordinator at Brazos County Crime Stoppers after retiring from the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office.

“I like being able to help my community. I love what Crime Stoppers does,” Santarsiero said. “I’m not a peace officer anymore, I’m retired but I want to support, I want do everything that I can to support their efforts to keep our community safe.”

The award goes to someone who supports local law enforcement and keeps the community safe.
