Residents north of North Zulch urged to evacuate due to fast moving fire

NORTH ZULCH, Texas (KBTX) – Firefighters are working to stop a fast-moving grass fire in a rural area of Madison County north of North Zulch.

People are being asked to evacuate and stay away from the area of Diserens Road between Jinkins Road and FM 1452.

According to radio reports, the fire was moving south and was approximately 30 acres in size and quickly growing around 1:30 p.m.

Due to small roads and a high number of emergency vehicles in the area, authorities are asking people to not drive into the area.

Firefighters from multiple agencies including the Texas A&M Forest Service and Brazos County are also on scene assisting with the blaze.

The following emergency message was shared by Madison County Emergency Management at 1:50 p.m.

“Numerous emergency responders are currently working on a fast-moving wildfire in the area of Diserens Rd, North Zulch. With current wind and weather conditions, the fire is moving rapidly to the South. Law enforcement is strongly urging all persons in that area to please evacuate the area, as the fire is still active and moving at this time. All persons are asked to please avoid this area of FM 1452 at Diserens, nearby along Jenkins Road and south to State Highway 21.”
