Repeat offender sentenced to nine years in prison

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – A Brazos County jury sentenced Jackie Joe Robinson to nine years in prison following a two-day trial that ended on January 12, 2024.

He was found guilty of drug possession the day before.

According to the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office, Robinson was arrested as a passenger on April 4, 2021, in College Station. A search of the vehicle Robinson was in yielded around 3.5 grams of methamphetamine pills in the passenger-side door. The jury found Robinson guilty of this crime.

Robinson elected to have the jury assess the punishment instead of a judge. During the punishment phase, the jury can hear about a defendant’s previous criminal history. The State presented the jury with evidence of Robinson’s decade-long criminal history which included right convictions for theft, two convictions for evading police, and a conviction for assault of a family member.

The jury assessed a nine-year punishment out of a possible ten in state prison.
