Relentless Rain: A look back at rain totals across the Brazos Valley from last week

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – What. A. Week. A messy upper-level pattern driven by multiple disturbances brought round after round of rain to the Brazos Valley. The pattern started on Sunday, April 28th with the strongest storms bringing hail, damaging wind gusts, and two confirmed tornadoes. The week followed with more rounds of heavy rain, unfortunately falling over the same areas most of the time. Here’s a look at how the rain gauges across the area faired from Sunday, April 28th to Sunday, May 5th.

Some of these rounds of rain helped to solidify April as the 3rd wettest April on record in our 142 years of record keeping with Easterwood Airport reporting 9.33″. In the first five days of the month of May, the airport has recorded 3.59″. Our normal monthly rainfall for May is 4.60″, with 25 days left in the month we are just over 1″ away from our monthly average.
