Police: Man arrested outside Navasota store may be linked to father’s death in Waller

NAVASOTA, Texas (KBTX) – Law enforcement agencies in two counties are reviewing evidence to see if a man arrested Saturday morning for a shooting incident is linked to the homicide death of his father.

On Saturday, June 1, Navasota police arrested Joshua Land outside Annie’s on Highway 6 after he fired multiple shots in the parking lot. Police said a dog was found deceased at the scene and Land was charged with animal cruelty, deadly conduct, disorderly conduct, and possession of marijuana.

No other details about the shooting in the parking lot were immediately shared but on Monday, police said Land’s father was found deceased at his home in Waller.

The man’s death is being investigated as a homicide, Navasota police confirmed to KBTX on Tuesday.

According to a report in the Navasota Examiner, the father had been shot.

“Navasota Police Investigators have been meeting with Waller County Sheriff’s Office Investigators to review evidence that was collected and seized to assist them in their homicide investigation,” said City of Navasota PIO Taylor Hughes.
