New county building will include bridge over Texas Avenue connecting to Brazos County Courthouse
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – New developments were announced for the former Bryan ISD Admin building during commissioners court Tuesday.
The county’s project manager said the demolition will happen in late June.
“Towards the end of June, we don’t have a hard date yet, but that’s the timeline with the contractor that is doing that work,” said Project Manager, Trevor Lansdown.
Brazos County purchased the building in 2021. It served as a bank before it was the headquarters for Bryan ISD.
After two years and a feasibility study, the county learned remodeling the building was not a viable option. Lansdown also shared a few updates on the building that will be put in its place.
It is expected to be a three-story facility with a parking garage on-site and will now include a sky bridge over North Texas Avenue connecting the building and the existing courthouse.
“TxDOT was excited about the idea of the sky bridge and safety is part of their plan so they loved it,” added Lansdown.
The new facility will house the Justice of the Peace, Pct. 4, Constable, Pct. 4, Adult Probation, Public Defender’s Office, Child Support Court, and Child Protection Court.
Lansdown tells KBTX more updates will come towards the end of June when demolition takes place.
