Meet the Candidate: Gene Hermes – Burleson County Sheriff
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The 2024 primary is coming up.
Gene Hermes is running for re-election for Burleson County Sheriff and announced his candidacy in November of last year.
Hermes said that the county citizens are a key part of why he is running again.
“Citizens, you know, they want to be part of something. And you know, they should be. They’re our eyes and ears out in the field. And you know, law enforcement, they can’t do everything without the citizens. So I’m running for re-election to make sure we keep that going,” he said.
Hermes says his open-door policy is what makes him the best candidate for the job.
“If people have a question, I have an answer. My phones always on, my door’s always open. I love meeting with the residents, and I just love sitting there talking with them,” he said.
Hermes says that although he does not have a website, he welcomes any direct communication and questions.
“People can call me anytime. Most citizens in Burleson County have my cellphone number. They can call the sheriff’s office, they can either ask me to come to their house and visit with them, or they can come by the sheriff’s office, my door is always open,” he said.
