Man sentenced to prison for sexual abuse of a child in Grimes County
ANDERSON, Texas (KBTX) – A man in Grimes County has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the sexual assault of a child.
Prosecutors say the offense happened to an underage female at a home in Plantersville a few years ago and happened multiple times over a span of several weeks.
The Grimes County DA’s office says after initially denying the allegations, Jose Mota-Tupul later confessed to the crime and was eventually indicted by a grand jury in September 2023.
On March 27, Mota-Tupul pled guilty and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
“I am grateful for the courage of our victim to come forward and report what happened to her. I am grateful to DPS Special Agent Victor Bible for his incredible work in securing a confession in the case,” said Assistant District Attorney Meagan Callaham. “Finally, I am grateful we could get justice for our victim and a lengthy prison sentence for her abuser without having to put the victim through the stress of a jury trial.”
