Looking back at Darryl Bruffett’s time at KBTX
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Friday will mark Darryl Bruffett’s final broadcast at KBTX Media as the station’s Sports Director. It is a position he has held since December 1990.
Since joining the station on August 3, 1987, Darryl has done thousands of stories and some of the more memorable ones are being featured this week during News 3 at Six.
In June of 1997 Iola’s own Sam Medlock, who at the time was the reigning high school bull riding champion, wanted to see how Darryl would do at bull riding.
It took a lot of convincing to his wife Lori, along with signing a release with the station, but in June of 1997 during the Grimes County Rodeo, KBTX’s Darryl got on ‘Tornado’ and lasted 4.5 seconds!
