Inmate back in custody after brief escape from Brazos County jail

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – An inmate is back in the Brazos County jail after a brief escape late Wednesday night.

According to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, Juan Alvarez-Medina left the detention center property while a group of inmates was taking out the facility trash around 11:30 p.m.

The detention officer noticed Alvarez-Medina was missing when the group was returning.

Several agencies joined the search for the 27-year-old who was in custody for non-violent charges.

Deputies say Alvarez-Medina was found about a mile away around 3:20 a.m. He was taken into custody without further incident with help from officers with the Bryan Police Department.
