Hurricane Beryl impacts Livingston, updates on Lake Livingston Dam
LIVINGSTON, Texas (KBTX) – The Trinity River Authority of Texas told KBTX the necessary repairs to Lake Livingston Dam were made over the weekend before the hurricane came to shore.
There were some concerned residents in Livingston about how the storm is affecting the dam.
Kristl Reynolds is the store manager of O’Lucky Food Mart Exxon. She said her store has been without power since lunchtime, forcing her to turn customers away unless they could pay cash
“It’s kind of scary. I don’t like the weather like that. You don’t know what could happen, and we haven’t had power for a couple of hours now,” said Reynolds.
Reynolds said the wind was so strong that it blew out a window in her home.
Reynolds commented on the effects the dam might have on Livingston.
“It might possibly damage the dam and if it breaches, I mean most of the town could be underwater,” said Reynolds.
Other damage in Livingston from Hurricane Beryl includes knocked down trees and flooding.
