Huntsville police say wanted man injured following officer-involved shooting

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (KBTX) – An investigation is underway in Huntsville following an officer-involved shooting Monday.

According to a press release from the Huntsville Police Department, it happened after officers learned a wanted subject was staying at the Studio 6 Extended Stay hotel.

Investigators say the man was wanted for failing to comply with sex offender registration provisions which were part of a previous case where he was convicted of Possession of Child Pornography.

Huntsville PD says when officers approached the man, he showed a handgun and officers fired at him.

The man was taken to by Walker County EMS for treatment, according to the release. No officers were injured.

Police say the Texas Rangers will be taking over the investigation.
