Home broken into, golf carts totaled at The Barracks
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Amstad Turn Co. has been preparing The Barracks complex for students to move in this Wednesday.
However, the complex was vandalized after four property golf carts were destroyed.
Golf carts were upside down and abandoned when several people decided to take them for a joy ride after breaking into a house and stealing the keys.
“They ran into a couple of trees,” Amstad Co. intern said. “They made a lot of burnout marks on the road.”
Security footage from late Sunday night shows several men recklessly driving the golf carts.
Four of the six Amstad Turn Co. golf carts were totaled.
An intern for the construction company says he saw the whole thing.
“I noticed some guys driving around on our golf carts going all crazy riding into stuff,” Amstad Co. intern said. “I kind of waved them down, and they ran away.”
The owner of Amstad Turn Co., Jasen Coots, says he’s frustrated and just wants to find out who’s responsible.
“To pay for a couple of golf carts is one thing, but breaking and entering, vandalism, all the other charges that comes along with it, ‘Coots said. “It’s just not worth it.”
The total cost of damages is estimated from $20,000 to $40,000.
The construction company says they are on the lookout for a grey F-250 with mud tires. They add if the suspects turn themselves in, they would be willing to settle the matter without law enforcement.
