Hearne native returning home to host ‘Anything is Possible’ exhibit
HEARNE, Texas (KBTX) – A Hearne native is returning home to host an inspiring event.
Chip Baker will unveil his “Anything is Possible” exhibit on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Smith-Welch Memorial Library in Hearne.
It’ll give the community a look into his humble beginnings in Hearne and his path to success through photos, books and other personal items.
“I’m truly grateful for this opportunity,” Baker said.
Baker is an educator, host of The Success Chronicles podcast, public speaker and author of 17 books among other things.
Raised by a single mother and a supportive village, Baker grew up dreaming of the life he wanted. Yet, it seemed far away.
“Where I grew up, on my porch, that was my dreaming place,” Baker said. “I would dream of success and dream of things that I would love to do in my life, and I’m just going tell you, the things that I’ve been blessed to do, I would’ve never even dreamed or imagined this.”
Although, his Hearne community isn’t surprised by his accomplishments or the impact he’s made.
Towanda Jones, the Smith-Welch Memorial Library director, has known Baker since he was a young boy and said she always envisioned him doing great things.
“I’m not surprised,” Jones said. “He was spearheaded by a wonderful woman and that was his mother Wanda Baker, and he had the encouragement of all of the, as we call them, the old heads so he had that encouragement.”
Following Saturday’s exhibit, both Jones and Baker hope guests leave inspired and ready to live by his motto, “Go get it.”
“I believe that no significant success is gonna come to you,” Baker said. “I believe that you have to go make it happen.”
