Former Chi Alpha member accused of indecency with a child waives arraignment
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – William Johnson, 23, arrived in court Tuesday for his first appearance after being charged with indecency with a child.
He and his lawyer made the decision to waive his arraignment, taking the option to skip the hearing and instead plead not guilty.
Johnson along with Ryan Hoffart, Otto Randolph and Alexander Owens are all facing charges.
Investigators say the group exposed themselves to a 14-year-old boy when they were members of the Mountain Valley Fellowship Church in Brazos County and Texas A&M’s Chi Alpha Christian fraternity in College Station.
Investigators say the alleged incident happened at Johnson’s apartment in June 2022.
According to the Brazos County District Attorney’s office, Johnson will have a status hearing sometime in the next 30 to 60 days.
During that time officials will gather more information for the case, and when the hearing date arrives the judge will meet with all parties.
As far as the other men involved, their arraignment dates are Ryan Hoffart on August 27 at 2:30 p.m., and Otto Randolph on August 27 at 3:00 p.m.
Alexander Owens, who doesn’t have a mug shot available, will be arraigned on September 3 at 3:00 p.m.
