First-class office space coming to Lake Walk aims to bring remote workers back to the office
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – A new office space coming to Lake Walk could be highlighting the future of work, as those remote shift back to the office.
This new space called The Lumin will be a five-story, first-class office space with an on-site fitness center, covered parking and views over the lake. William Cole Companies President, Spencer Clements, says this will create an attractive environment to help companies bring workers back to the office.
“They got very spoiled, and rightfully so, to work from their couches at home. Well, they’re not going to come back to substandard office space. So, the companies that are trying to hire the best people have to provide the best office space and the best environments for their people, the cleanest air, the best views, you know fun working conditions. That product is something we want to deliver here in Lake Walk,” Clements said.
Nestled just between the Texas A&M flagship campus and the Texas A&M System Rellis Campus, Clements says they’re in the middle of some major growth. The latest office space project, the Lumin, is hoping to complement that. But, there are also numerous other plots around Lake Walk that Clements says are shovel-ready. That is if they are a good fit.
“What you’re probably not going to see here is a bunch of national chains or things that you can see on other street corners in other towns and in Texas. What we’re looking for is things that are a little more regional and local and best-in-class and make things more interesting,” he said.
Because of a public-private partnership with the City of Bryan, Clements says they have the ability to take their time and wait for those perfect fits. As each expansion happens, Clements says they’re looking to bring in all community members and visitors.
“You can think about Lake Walk kind of like a mini [version] of The Woodlands,” he said. “We see this is a place for college students, a place for retirees. We see it as a place for young professionals, particularly the younger professionals that are looking for a place to once they graduate from Texas A&M. They go to Seattle, New York City and Austin. Well, we’d like for some of them to stay here and work in some of these companies that are going to be here and are already here in the Brazos Valley.”
The Lumin is available for preleasing and is expected to be 90,000 sqft. The building’s ground floor will include retail and dining options for Lake Walk patrons.
