First Baptist Bryan hosts Military Familiy Connection Day

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – On Saturday those who serve our country and those who served got to have a fun day with their family at First Baptist Bryan.

It was for the church’s Military Family Connection Day which is dedicated to recognizing military families. According to the church, that includes veterans, active duty, those in reserves, guards, and more.

The day was filled with games, music, and a cornhole tournament. There were hot dogs and hamburgers along with refreshments.

Cynthia Benner, the church’s military connection leader said she has a son who served in the military and she thinks it’s important to encourage the family members of those who have loved ones who are deployed or stationed.

“There’s a lot of things that families go through,” Benner said. “We just want to reach out and tell them that we’re here and we appreciate the sacrifice that they’re making themselves along with a family member who is deployed somewhere.”

This was the church’s third year putting on the event which Benner said has grown every year.

“The feedback that we get has been positive. They always enjoy coming. We had a band playing military songs, so that was very inspirational,” Benner said.
