Epilepsy Foundation set to host Epilepsy Walk this weekend

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – In an effort to raise awareness, the Epilepsy Foundation of Bryan College Station will host a walk on Saturday, May 11 at 9:30 a.m. at Wolf Pen Creek Park.

You can register online here. Online registration closes Thursday, May 9. Registration on May 11 will begin at 8:30 a.m.

The walk is open to everyone, including furry friends, and people are encouraged to wear purple.

Along with the walk, a bounce house, face painting, characters for kids, a taco truck and an ice cream truck.

“We have a DJ, plenty of vendors coming out to join us, there’s going to be fun photo ops,” Paige Neumann, Co-chair of the walk said. “We want to make it a family-friendly atmosphere.”

The goal of the Epilepsy Foundation is to raise awareness and the walk raises money for the foundation.

“95 cents of every dollar goes back to the foundation,” Bridget Mariott, Co-Chair of the walk said. “We have two one-week camps in the summer absolutely free for kids ages 8-19.” The foundation also offers medical clinics around the state of Texas for uninsured families.
