Drivers find improved road conditions on Tuesday

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Since those freezing temperatures hit the Brazos Valley, ice has significantly affected area roads.

The biggest thing if you are traveling on the road today, is to just be careful.

There are still some icy patches throughout the roads which could cause your car to slide.

As of Tuesday morning, ice still covers some of the roads that are less traveled.

Bob Colwell, the Public Information Officer with TxDOT, says that while main roads can be clear, roads like inside of a neighborhood, or a parking lot may still be icy.

“We want to remind folks that even though things are clearing up, we still need to proceed with caution,” said Colwell.

Colwell encourages everyone to still take their time on the roads today, especially on elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses.

Even though ice is still prominent, Colwell says the roads are looking better due to the sun.

“We’re very thankful to have the sun. The sun is helping dry out the roadways. We think the travel will be good this afternoon and into the morning, which we are thankful for. But we still ask everyone to please, please use some patience when out on the roadways,” said Colwell.
