Driver involved in Tuesday’s high-speed chase in Brazos County identified

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – A wanted man who reportedly led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit throughout Brazos County on Tuesday has been identified in court documents obtained by KBTX.

Brazos County deputies first spotted Kristofer Craig Wingate, 40, of Bryan just after 6 p.m. driving a car on Texas Avenue near W Villa Maria Road in Bryan.

An attempt to stop Wingate on Texas Avenue near Avondale Avenue was unsuccessful and deputies say that’s when Wingate began to flee.

A pursuit of the suspect traveled through the City of Bryan including on Briarcrest, Boonville Road, onto Highway 30, Bird Pond Road, and several other roads before ending up on Highway 6 and then to Highway 21. Other law enforcement agencies including DPS and Burleson County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the pursuit and Wingate was stopped and arrested on private property along FM 1362 in Burleson County.

Wingate was booked into the Brazos County Detention Center on charges of evading. Deputies also confirmed he’s wanted on deadly conduct charges in Waller County and Grimes County.
