DPS opening temporary driver license office in Brenham
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), in partnership with Blinn College, is opening a temporary driver license (DL) office at the Blinn College Student Center in Brenham.
The announcement follows a deadly crash into the Brenham DPS Office on April 12, 2024. Investigators say Clenard Parker of Chappell Hill intentionally crashed a stolen 18-wheeler into the building. A total of 14 people were inside when the crash happened. Everyone was injured, and two people died.
On Tuesday, July 9, Parker was indicted on two counts of Capital Murder, three counts of Aggravated Assault, Evading Arrest, Criminal Mischief and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
Following the crash in April, the Brenham DPS Office has been closed, with residents having to visit nearby DPS office locations.
Beginning Monday, July 15, Texans can visit the new temporary DPS Office at the Blinn Student Center for full, in-person DL services. Members of the Texas Highway Patrol will also have offices at this location.
