DPS investigates fatal 1-vehicle crash in Grimes County

GRIMES COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers are investigating a fatal crash on State Highway 249 near County Road 304. The crash happened at 3:23 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22.

According to a release, the initial investigation showed a 2021 Nissan Maxima driven by Stephen Oderinde, 26, of Spring, was traveling northbound at an unsafe speed for roadway conditions, hydroplaned, hit a concrete culvert, flipped and submerged in water.

Oderinde was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead by hospital staff.
