Director of the U.S Census Bureau visits Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – On Tuesday the director of the U.S Census Bureau spoke with students and faculty at Texas A&M University, during his multi-day tour in the Lone Star State.

Dr. Robert Santos touched on subjects like how they track America’s workforce and how the people participating in the census makes a difference.

“We at the Census Bureau, go out of our way to reinforce the value of the information that’s being collected for the community,” said Dr. Santos.

But, there’s a history of undersampling in college towns, and it was especially apparent in 2020.

“In 2020 because of the pandemic there were challenges in getting accurate counts of college students in dorms because many of them went back home to hunker down,” he added.
