Custom guitar signed by musicians will be sold at auction for George and Barbara Bush Foundation

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – A custom guitar honoring the celebration of what would have been President George H.W. Bush’s 100th birthday will be sold at auction next year to benefit the George and Barbara Bush Foundation, and a second custom guitar will be on display at the Presidential Library and Museum.

The guitars are gifts from Bryan-based Clements Guitars.

Crafted by Trey Clements ‘13, the guitars were featured at last week’s 100th birthday celebration for the nation’s 41st President.

The George H.W. Bush 32 Series Clements Guitar has been signed by The Oak Ridge Boys, The Gatlin Brothers, Lyle Lovett, and Robert Earl Keen. It ultimately will be sold at auction at next year’s Presidential Salute Dinner in Houston with proceeds benefiting the George and Barbara Bush Foundation.

The Oak Ridge Boys performed at the opening of the Marine One /4141 Locomotive Pavilion last Wednesday, and The Gatlin Brothers performed for President Bush’s staff and friends the night before.

The second guitar commissioned by the Foundation is the first-of-its-kind JDC Series honoring the 4141 Locomotive now on display in the new pavilion. Designed to match the Air Force One color palette, this guitar will remain on display at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum as part of a 41@100 exhibit.
