Corps of Cadets Parents continue tradition of treating cadets to cookies

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Tuesday, Corps of Cadets Parents carried on a tradition that’s over 100 years old.

In 1922, 11 Dallas Aggie Moms delivered a spread of food to the Corps of Cadets. It was so well received, that they launched the first-ever Aggie Moms club.

During the pandemic, the Corps of Cadets Parents decided to carry on the tradition with a twist: they called it “Everybody needs a cookie.”

It’s all about bringing a smile to students’ faces as they deal with the stress of college life.

“It’s really awesome when we share the photos and a lot of the moms and dads are out of the state and they see their cadets with big smiles and cookies in their hands. You just can’t beat that. It really means a lot,” said organizer Michelle Broder.

Tuesday, cadets received oatmeal cream cookies baked by Pappy’s Bakery in Calvert.

It wasn’t just the cookies that brought smiles. Aggieland Pets With a Purpose brought some dogs to meet the students.
