College Station ISD superintendent discusses goals for 2024-2025 school year

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Over 14,000 College Station students are heading back to class for the 2024-25 school year.

Superintendent Tim Harkrider, who’s entering his second year at the district, joined News 3 at Six to discuss the upcoming semester.

The new school year can come with questions or anxieties for some, and Harkrider says they’re ready to support families in the district.

“We’re here to provide great customer service. So anything that they’re needing or have questions about, don’t sit around and wonder. We’re here to help support them, so please call us, e-mail us and we’ll be responsive,” said Harkrider. “We want them and their child to have a great educational experience with us.”

Last year, voters signed off on two bond propositions benefitting College Station ISD athletics.

“We’re excited about the opportunities that our taxpayers gave us to bring some new things for our students,” said Harkrider.

He added that some of those improvement projects will be starting soon.

“Our three middle school football fields that were approved in the ’23 bond, we’ll start breaking ground on those in November as soon as football season is over at the middle school level. Behind the scenes, we’re planning the addition to Consol High School, College Station High School and the CTE Center Phase Two, as well as the renovations to our stadiums,” said Harkrider.
