City of Navasota says no immediate threat of river flooding
NAVASOTA, Texas (KBTX) – The City of Navasota posted on social media that at this time there is no immediate threat of the river flooding over Highway 6.
The city says it is continuously monitoring updates and river forecasts from the National Weather Service and it is working with the TDEM, TxDOT, Brazos and Grimes County.
They ask everyone in the region to use caution if they need to travel and not to attempt to drive through flooded roadways.
Previously the city said due to Lake Limestone needing to release water from the dam, it notified residents that there was a potential for flooding at Highway 6 over the next 24 to 48 hours. It said that was a precaution in case it needed to be closed.
