City of Bryan holds Slide into Summer event
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The City of Bryan is getting ready for the summer heat with its Slide into Summer Event which took place on Sunday at the Bryan Aquatic Center.
The event celebrated the opening of recreational swimming. There were games both poolside and in the water. There were also food trucks made available.
Recreational swimming for the summer season will last until August 11th. It is Tuesday through Sunday from 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the aquatic center. Hours for other city pools vary.
Daily admission is $2 for ages 4 -11 and $3 for ages 12 and older. There are also pool passes for those who plan to frequent the locations.
“We’re just really excited to be able to offer this amenity to all the residents here even extending out to College Station we’re just excited to have everyone out, have a good summer and have a good time,” City of Bryan’s aquatic coordinator, Hayden Johnson said.
The city says ages 12 and under must pass a swim test or wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket.
Johnson added that hours were modified this year due to a lifeguard shortage. Those interested in becoming a lifeguard must be 16 years old or older. Pay starts at $12 an hour.
