Bush Library volunteer receives Daily Points of Light Award
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – A longtime volunteer at the George Bush Presidential Library & Museum is the latest recipient of a prestigious award established by the former president.
Marjean Neve was awarded the Daily Point of Light Award on Thursday.
Given each weekday, the Daily Points of Light Award honors an individual or organization that makes a positive difference in the lives of others.
Neve has been a volunteer at the Bush Library since 2016, accumulating over 1,400 volunteer hours with the organization.
In addition to the time she gives to the George Bush Presidential Library & Museum, she also dedicates her time to the American Legion where she is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 159, merging her quilting hobby by creating beautiful quilts for the Quilts of Valor program.
Neve is also an active member of the Bryan Noon Lions Club, having served for over 27 years.
President George H.W. Bush was the first president in American history to institute a daily presidential recognition program from the White House, conferring 1,020 Daily Points of Light Awards on citizens and organizations making a difference in other people’s lives and solving community problems. Points of Light continues this recognition and now has more than 7,000 honorees to date.
