Burleson County Chamber of Commerce hosting Scare on the Square

CALDWELL, Texas (KBTX) – Halloween is one week away, but you don’t have to wait to celebrate. The Burleson County Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual Scare on the Square Saturday, and all families are invited.

Downtown will be filled with decorated vehicles for the event’s staple activity, Truck or Treat. Susan Mott, the Burleson County Chamber of Commerce director, said businesses, organizations and families participate in it yearly.

“Come downtown expecting great treats, maybe a few little spooks here and there but definitely a fun time,” Mott said.

Holidays and events like Scare on the Square bring downtown Caldwell to life, according to Mott. She said everyone gets involved and wants to give back.

Businesses like Armstrong Properties and Mainstreet Gym make it a priority to be a part of Square on the Square every year.

“We’ve got a great small town community here that comes together, close-knit community,” Chad White with Armstrong Properties said. “It’s a great event for kids from not only Caldwell but from surrounding areas here in the Brazos Valley to come out.”

In addition to the fun, Mott said the event is safe and controlled.

“That’s the wonderful thing about being in a small town,” Mott said. “You can actually feel good about your child being able to trunk or treat in the safety of downtown.”

Scare on the Square will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. It’s free and open to the public.

If you’d like to be a part of the Truck or Treat and give out candy, the registration deadline is Wednesday. That information can be found here.
