‘Building is full of energy’: Caldwell ISD welcomes students back to class

CALDWELL, Texas (KBTX) – Students returned to Caldwell ISD on Tuesday, and educators may be more excited than their students for the 2024-2025 academic year.

“We started bright and early this morning, greeting all of our students. The building is full of energy, just ready for a wonderful school year ahead,” said Erin Supack, the Caldwell ISD chief academic officer.

At Caldwell Junior High, teachers greeted students as they reunited with their friends and memorized class schedules.

Caldwell JHS Principal Shauna Savage told KBTX it’s a nerve-racking but exciting day for the school’s seventh graders who are starting out on a new journey.

“They are, all of a sudden, taking on more responsibility for keeping up for their things and learning again. That fear, and then the excitement of being able to go to classes in between without having someone walking them there, and finding your own class [that can be overwhelming],” Principal Savage explained.

Both teachers and students alike, according to the principal, couldn’t be more excited for what the 2024- 2025 school year has in store.

“The best part of school is the noise kids bring and just the life the kids bring into any building. When they’re not here the building is just quiet and kind of sad in a way but when they are here, it’s just alive and it’s fun,” added Principal Savage.

Caldwell ISD said it spent the summer revamping its website and in a few weeks a new parent app will launch.
