Bryan police remind community of firework laws before July 4th holiday

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – The Fourth of July is next week and there are places you can and can not pop fireworks.

Officer Seth Waller with the Bryan Police Department said the city limits of Bryan and College Station do not allow fireworks, poppers, or even sparklers.

“Between the 3rd, 4th, and 5th, we responded to a little over 100 calls for fireworks within the city. And that just ties up our resources and there’s other things that we could be responded to,” he said.

The penalty for fireworks in city limits is a hefty fine.

“The penalty would be a classy citation and be a fine up to $2000 if you were to receive that citation for the possession or popping or selling of the fireworks,” Waller said.

There are multiple firework shows around town, including the Kurton firework show, the RELLIS campus fireworks show and the I HEART America celebration with the city of College Station.
