Bryan ISD families can meet community resources at Parents as Partners event

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Bryan ISD is holding the first Parents as Partners series event Feb. 10 at SFA Middle School and Performing Arts Center.

The program is designed to help district parents and students learn more about technology safety and substance abuse prevention from resources available in the community.

A number of community resources, such as Read by 3rd and BVCASA are participating.

Crystal Goodman, Executive Director of School Leadership for Bryan ISD, said the goal of the new event is to help parents open up a dialogue with their students on important issues they may face.

“We’re not sure what our parents might be going through with some of their children or what they need to know, and so we don’t want them to suffer in silence,” she said.

Lawyer Daniel Hernandez, who founded Read by 3rd, said he hopes to see the channels of communication between students and parents grow to foster educational success.

“You bring together all these different resources, programs, that are family-oriented, children-oriented, what a tremendous outcome that we can receive,” he said.

The event is free to attend for Bryan ISD families. The link to sign up can be found here, however signing up is not required.
