Bryan High’s Theatre to present classic musical ‘Grease’

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Bryan High School’s theatre is gearing up to present a fun and classic musical.

Its production of “Grease” starts Friday and runs until Monday, Jan. 30, at the Bryan ISD Performing Arts Center.

The show is centered around sweethearts Danny and Sandy. The two met during the summer but thought they’d never see each other again.

That changed when Sandy enrolled at Danny’s school, Rydell High School. The sweethearts reconnect and navigate their relationship with the help of their friend groups, the greasers and the pink ladies.

Bryan High’s musical is the high school version of the show, so it’s family-friendly, according to the directors Forrest Gamble and Braedon Lawless.

Although the original film is set in the 50s, Gamble said the students have enjoyed taking on the roles and the rock ‘n’ roll music from that era.

“The kids have been working hard to get everything just right,” Gamble said.

Another aspect the audience can enjoy is the set. It resembles signature pieces from the original movie including the drive-in theater, Burger Palace and the radio station.

The iconic car “Greased Lighting” will also make some appearances.

“It’s a lot of moving pieces,” Lawless said.
